Four Seasons Resort Costa Rica At Peninsula Papagayo
Costa Rica has many attractions for everyone, from surfers to nature lovers, from the foodies to the party people. All over the country you can find nature preserves and forests with plenty of critters, small and large. If you want to soak up some sun, it’s a little impossible to not find a nice sandy beach unless you’re deep in the mainland. Take a look at the attractions suggested by Jet Charter Costa Rica clientele. If you want to go somewhere specific, ask us how to get there.
Nicoya Peninsula
The beach of the Nicoya Peninsula is an 80-mile strip of powder sand along the outskirts of a dense forest. The water is a beautiful turquoise, fish can often be seen when swimming around, and the sunsets here are gorgeous. Due to a rise of tourism, you can find many restaurants and hotels around the mainland near the beach. For the surfers out there, this beach is known for its strong currents and waves.
Arenal Volcano
Volcanoes are truly spectacles of the Earth, and thankfully, most of them are dormant for long periods of time. Arenal is one of the most active volcanoes to date, erupting in the summer of 1968, without slowing down until the 2000’s – it returned to a non-active state in 2010. The volcano is larger than 5,000 feet high and can be viewed safely from far away. There is an Observatory Lodge dedicated to it, but it’s best to go after the spring. During the early months of the year, the volcano is usually concealed by fog.
Guanacaste
Surrounded by national parks and attractions, it’s difficult to believe that the Guanacaste is made up of secluded beaches, but that’s one of it’s highlights. It’s dry and sunny, and to the east of the shoreline is a chain of volcanoes that have mutated the landscape of the nearby National Park, Rincon de la Vieja. Around Guanacaste are remote fishing villages, and a thriving cowboy culture with years of history to keep it alive.
Corcovado National Park
For some real sight-seeing, and by that we mean a sight to see, Corcovado National Park is a popular destination for many tourists. A misty rainforest that covers over 10,000 acres is home to a variety of wildlife. Take a few trails through the forest, and you’ll most likely spot many kinds of birds, howler monkeys, and if you’re lucky (depending on how you look at it), a jaguar. Many suggest going to the rainforest during the early morning hours to spot an increase of wild-life, so if you’re just there to stroll, a little closer to noon might be better suited for you.
Manuel Antonio National Park
For a more relaxing destination when visiting Costa Rica, this is the place to be. It’s a small, three square-mile patch of land, covered in a lush rainforest with nature trails, secluded coves, and with a quiet coastline. You can escape the busier parts of Costa Rica by strolling the nature trails to take a look at some of the wildlife; or you can take a short walk to the beach where the water is calm and there’s plenty of shade.
Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve
This lush, 25,700-acre nature reserve is a must-see for all those visiting Costa Rica. The variety of animals, birds, and plant life is astounding, all living in the same ecosystem. It’s been said that the way to the reserve is a bit of a hardship, and the trails can get a little busy with tourists, but all-in-all it is well worth the visit. You can always take the high road, literally, and explore the reserve via zipline or walking along hanging bridges.
Puero Viejo de Talamanca
For a true sense of paradise for everybody and anybody, Puero Viejo is the destination of choice. Cocles Beach attracts the surfers, nature lovers gravitate inland to the rainforests, downtown has cuisine for foodies to savor, and the groovy bamboo bars and reggae music give the nightlife party people a run for their money. If you’re here purely for leisure, there are plenty of empty stretches of sand, especially Playa Negra, a black-sand beach like none other.
Jaco
This destination is one of, if not the most popular spot for tourists and visitors to set up camp. The town is beautiful and teeming with hotels, shops, and restaurants; there’s plenty of beach with palm trees for shade; the Pura Vidsa Botanical Garden is home to monkeys and other wildlife; the nightlife is party central. The numerous attractions are what attract so many people, and you may find yourself joining them soon if you’re visiting Costa Rica.
La Paz Waterfall Gardens
Costa Rica is known for its rainforests and beaches, and this park is clearly the reason why. Filled with all sorts of wildlife, from beautiful butterflies to swinging spider monkeys, and blooming with green canopies and colorful orchids, La Paz is more like a gigantic garden rather than a rainforest. Even more so with it’s five flowing waterfalls, La Paz becomes one large Zen Garden that is well worth a visit or two while in Costa Rica.
Tabacon Hot Springs
Near the Arenal Volcano is another warm and beautiful destination: hot springs. Surrounded by waterfalls and tropical foliage, these hot springs are one-of-a-kind, made up of 97% rainwater, and the remaining 3% being magma. The Resort that gives access to the hot springs offers a spa treatment to put a spring in your step, but if you just want to spend your time in the hot springs, no one would blame you.
